What our clients are saying about having a doula...
"She was something familiar during a completely new and unfamiliar experience."
I can't say enough about how impacting it was to have a doula join us on the crazy and beautiful journey of having our son. We loved having one on one prenatal care with our doula. These meetings gave us the opportunity to ask the million questions that came up for us as first time parents. During labor, her presence, input, and faith in me as the labouring mama was invaluable. She was something familiar during a completely new and unfamiliar experience. I was especially grateful for the care that we received postpartum. In an overwhelming initial month of having our first child, she was a consistent support. Her listening ear and encouragements to us will always stick out to me when I think about my initial journey into motherhood.

"While I think we could have and would have made it through without you, we definitely wouldn’t be able to look back with all the positivity surrounding our experience."
Cody and I cannot thank you enough for the part you played in Asher’s birth day (and all those before and after). While I think we could have and would have made it through without you, we definitely wouldn’t be able to look back with all the positivity surrounding our experience. I especially want to thank you for being with Asher and Cody right after my c-section. It was a few weeks later that I discovered the pictures you took and I am grateful for those captured moments that I missed. Thanks again!

"The husband needs to be a very active support during labor and while the woman’s experience is more difficult, it still is a bit of a marathon for the husband."
My doula didn’t take away any of my role but instead helped me to support my wife better then I could have on my own. She was a resource in advance and in the thick of things it was great to be able to tag her in for a bit as I grabbed a quick coffee and bite to eat. With these little breaks I could then continue right through the whole time with the energy and positive attitude my wife needed from me.
"We want to thank you so much for your support leading up to and during our son’s birth."
Having another person on our "team" to help speak and advocate for us (during a time when you’re feeling vulnerable and foggy of thought) definitely made us feel more secure and empowered in the decisions that we ended up making. We would highly recommend you to anyone considering having a doula. We hope to have you around for the next baby!

"I wish every woman I knew had a doula for birth...no matter how supportive and involved a husband is...no matter how much she knows about birth."
It is just so nice for mom and dad to have a knowledgeable and supportive person there every step of the way. A doula is a wonderful resource for pregnancy and birthing and those difficult first days of learning to breastfeed. There is so many new things to becoming parents and a doula really helps ease that transition. I didn't have a doula until my second baby and will definitely hire her again should we have another.

"I always thought that you didn't need a midwife AND a doula, but really you do."
Even though they (midwives) are more holistic than other health care providers, they do have procedures to follow and a job that extends beyond the support given in labor. Whether it was paperwork, calling additional midwives, prepping the area for birth, cleaning up, ect - I had my doulas undivided attention at those times and felt completely supported.
